Basic PAN Card Eligibility Criteria to Apply for PAN Card Online
(For Indian Citizens)

As per the Indian Constitution, every Indian citizen should have a PAN Card. In order to apply for a PAN Card it is important to understand the PAN Card eligibility criteria. As far as the PAN Card age limit is concerned the Income Tax Department has not specified any age limit for PAN Card.

Here is a list of Indian citizens who can apply for a PAN Card:

   Individuals: Any Indian citizen can apply for a PAN Card. All you need to do is to submit certain documents related to the proof of identity, proof of birth and proof and address.

   Hindu Undivided Family: PAN Card application needs to be submitted in the HUF’s name to perform any financial transactions. The head of the family can apply for a PAN Card by submitting the documents related to the proof of identity, proof of birth and proof of address. Apart from the head of the family must also submit the documents of their coparceners.  

   Minors: Minors also can apply PAN Card in minor status. It is mandatory to apply for a PAN Card for a minor in case the parents are planning to invest in their name or transfer property in their name. The parents or guardians need to submit their documents along with the child’s proof of birth. All signature should be made by guardian. The child’s Aadhar number should also be mentioned in the application form as well. 

What are the Eligibility Criteria and Documents Required for Foreign Citizens / Entities?

Non-residentIndians(NRIs) can apply for PAN Card by submitting Form49A along with the requisite documents and fees at the Muthoot Finance Branch. PAN Cards can also be obtained by Indian companies, firms and trusts. Here is a list of entities that are eligible for a PAN Card:

Partnership firm: The firm needs to submit a copy of the registration certificate given by the Registrar of firms or the partnership deed.

  • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP): LLPs can apply for a PAN Card by submitting a copy of the registration certificate issued by the registrar of LLPs.

 

  • Trust: Trusts need to submit their certificate and deed of registration number issued by the charity commissioner.

 

  • Companies: Indian companies need to submit a copy of the registration certificate issued by the Registrar of Companies.

 

  • Local authorities: Local authorities need to submit a copy of the agreement to apply for a PAN Card.

 

  • Association of persons: Registered associations must submit a copy of their registration certificate for PAN Card application.
